Virginia Estate Homes

Virginia Estate Homes

A trademark of the Virginia suburbs has always been the rolling terrain, historical battlefield sites, and pastoral lakes and streams. Many communities have been built around nature, and the further north and west one goes from Washington, D.C., the richer the elevation shifts and the more scenic the areas become.

Virginia is also rich in “estate homes”, if one accepts standard definitions that larger homes on one acre+ lots are what would qualify as estate properties. Close to town and employment centers, communities such as McLean, Oakton, and Vienna provide excellent schools, larger homes, and desirable living for those in the upper brackets sheeking such property.

Many of the golf course communites have similar properties, and I direct you to that section for homes qualifying under this category.

In this section, however, I want to concentrate on the communities which clearly qualify as harboring many truly estate homes; defined as large homes on substantial acreage, and the acreage has a degree of privacy and uniqueness not found in most planned subdivisions. These homes would be sought by those seeking not only grandeur on the inside, but privacy in large lots set back from neighbors, main roads, and the like. Homes which have unique qualities and built for those seeking customized life styles which only that particular home and property can bring.
